My first job trainining started the day after i return frm Melacca... Despite the fact that i was really tired frm the trip, i had to get up at 7 in the morning...And if u must know, i am accustom, actually very accustom to late night sleep, as in i usually sleep at 2-3 in the morning, so i was dead tired the next day..Anyways, i head off to DU to pick up Zest; it's lucky to hav someone working at the same company...I actually, woke up a lil late and then i decided not to put on any make-up...Should've know that God was giving me some kind of omen for the rest of the day....
OK, i'll cut the crap short, we reach there and we were each assign to a trainer individually, mine was Peggy and Zest's one was Stanley. Neways, they were really nice ppl...I know i should hav been surprise when our trainer lead us out of our office for training, but then we were told that we had to do outdoor work too. But, by outdoor, i never thought Pudu....I mean, come on, Pudu?! Of all places! Ok, that was not the only problem, i was not told that i had to travel using public transport...therefore i did not bring enough funds.. i had only like 10 bucks in my purse...and i have to travel back and forth frm Pudu. Therefore, on the first day of my work, i missed lunch..Boy, was i pissed! (I get pissed when i dun eat, some more i was forced to watch ppl eat)
And guess wat i was suppose to do...Collect funds frm ppl! Yup, you go like " Hi, I'm a volunteer frm the Spastic Children Association, with every 10 ringgit you can help one children...." stuff like that and you have to ask every single person you meet , including those on the road ,in the car, those that are eating at stalls, those that are in CC...What the heck! OK, at that point i was not thinking anything negative, afterall, i am suppose to do this for two months....First day pretty much pass like that...I was relieve when it end, i was sweating all over cause of the heat (thank God i did not put on any make-up!) Poor Zest suffered frm an aching foot, cause she wore heels to work, imagine walking around Pudu for 8 hours in heels!
The next day, started at 8 in the morning, this time i brought more money, i really duwan o starve for another day...So, we headed back again to Pudu to cover up the rest of the area that we did not go the previous day...And do i get an eye opener...The people i meet, seriously!
- Well, most of the people i meet, will say things like "sorry, busy", or "sorry, no money" or "why don;t you donate to me instead!". These are expected...Seriously, i would not donate also i were in their shoes...
- The second kind of ppl, they do not believe yet they wan to help...So, they call the Association to confirm...Most of the time this category of ppl will cough up at least 20 bucks, some are even nice enough to belanja u drinks if you are lucky...
- The third kind would just say "I dun believe you guys anymore go away." Well, it's actually harsher than it sounds on the ear..Oh well, u cant win them all!
- The fourth kind would just ignore you, their mentality "If, i dun see them, they will go away."...And yes, i will go away, duh, i get the msg, i aint stupid!
The top three ppl i met on that day:
3. An uncle who ask me if i were held up as hostage or lock up some where...Meaning i was forced to do wat i am doing..At some point i am, but heck i am getting paid RM1300 per month.
2. A lady who persuaded me to sit down and hav a drink before handing me 20 bucks...I was so Happy!
1. The person of the day: A young boy not older than 18 told me to help him because he had AIDS. ( Dang! He even show me the mediacl slip!) I ran away before he could say anything else...I mean, wat else wa i suppose to do! Actually, the story was a lil more than this, but i hav cut it short...
Well, at the end of the day, i was dead tired but somehow i had manage to get 260 bucks of the street, no bad for starters. But, i dunno how long i can stand working an 8-8 job, it was driving me nutter...Heck, i even fell asleep in the LRT without realising, thank God my trainer was with me...dangerous le!
And let's face it there's no way a Diploma student sould be doing this kind of job, i mean practical training le, takan i go out and ask funds frm ppl everyday for 2 freaking months! I felt like i am cheating those ppl, and besides when i went back to college the nex day, my lecturer told me there's no way we are going to pass our practical training by doing that for 2 moths... Sounds like i am working as a promoter right? It's just that the name is slighty diff, Event and Promoter Assitant...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite!
So, i quitted the next day, cause my leg cant stand the stress anymore, and since we were going to quit anyway, must as well do it sooner. Afterall, it's not like they are going to pay for working 2 days for them rite?
well, so that's bout my first job, hopefully, my second one would be better..will rite up bout that next time.
0 shoot me!:
